kid bowlingThe top high school bowling teams across Missouri will be competing Saturday at Olympia Lanes in the 2013 Missouri State High School Bowling Championships.

Team will practice on Friday night and the single day of competition will be on Saturday.

“Since this is only the second year Olympia Lanes has had a high school bowling program, we are very excited and honored to be hosting the state tournament,” said Pam Hosp, the general manager of Olympia Lanes.

“The future of our sport hinges on youth getting involved, so this is a great way to show our St. Joseph community how exciting high school bowling is. Although bowling is not a varsity sport (yet), kids can still earn scholarships and go on to bowl at the collegiate level if they set their minds to it.”

Officials with the St Joseph Visitors Bureau estimate the estimated economic impact of the event at $52,000.
