Troubled Mom Who Skipped Trial On Child Endangerment Gets 60 Days Shock Time

Elizabeth MichaudA Leavenworth woman who lost or abandoned her baby a year ago, and then failed to appear for a jury trial, has now been sentenced to 60-days shock time for aggravated child endangerment.

Elizabeth Michaud received a nine month sentence for her guilty plea to the charge, but Judge Gunnar Sundby suspended all but 60 days of the sentence, and imposed 12 months probation.

Michaud was charged after a frantic call to police in May of 2012. She told neighbors and officers she could not find her baby. The baby was found several blocks away.

As she awaited trial on the child endangerment charges, Michaud was arrested on drug charges on April 1, 2013.  She then failed to appear for the jury trial April 8, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Leavenworth Police Department officers located Michaud hiding in an alleyway on April 9, 2013. She was charged with another count of possession of drugs.

Sentencing is scheduled June 14 on charges of possession with intent to distribute Oxycodone, and possession of methamphetamine.
