A multi-vortex tornado about a mile wide touched down in the suburbs and headed directly toward Oklahoma City Friday.

The twister killed nine people as it charged up I-40 Friday night, twisting billboards and tossing vehicles during rush hour traffic.

The vehicles of at least three storm-chaser vehicles were damaged, including one from the Weather Channel that was totaled. The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
