The Platte County Sheriff’s Office needs your help finding out who broke into a telephone switch box near Dearborn earlier this month.

On July 5, a telephone switch box belonging to Century Link Phone Systems located on Rock Island Road was broken into and damaged.

The estimated cost for replacement of the box is $10,000 and an additional $25,000 for the electronic components located inside of the box.

This also resulted in landline 911phone service being disrupted for a good portion of the Dearborn/ New Market area for 3 days.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public on any information about the person(s) involved. Anyone with knowledge about this crime is urged to contact the TIPS Hotline at 474-TIPS or text “TIP452 and your message” to 274637.
