Authorities have not confirmed the identity of a man killed in a vehicle fire near Union Star Monday, but it’s believed to be Andrew County Commissioner John Rotterman. Law enforcement sources contacted by St Joe Post confirm that Rotterman was killed.
An autopsy was scheduled in Kansas City Tuesday, according to Andrew County Presiding Commissioner Larry Atkins.
“The vehicle he was riding in was burnt up, and he was burnt pretty bad,” Atkins said. “Until we get official word that it was our colleague I can’t say too much.”
“They’re going to have an autopsy at one o’clock today.”
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating. Sergeant Corey Root of Troop H says the vehicle fire was reported at 12:40 pm Monday on US-169, one mile east of Union Star.
Union Star firefighters and the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office also responded. Sergeant Root says the Ford F150 pickup truck was fully engulfed in flames.
