The St. Joseph Mustangs suffered their third consecutive loss Wednesday night as they fell at home to the Chillicothe Mudcats, 9-3.
Chillicothe struck early and often as they scored one run in the first inning, three more in the second and four runs in the fourth inning.
St. Joe’s summer college baseball team was down 4-0 when they struck for two in the bottom of the third, but the Mudcats came right back in the next half inning to make it 8-2 and the Mustangs never threatened Chillicothe.
Colten Howell started for St. Joe but he lasted only 3.2 innings, allowing eight runs on 10 hits and falling to 0-2 this summer.
Joe Koerper led St. Joseph’s 12-hit attack as he went 3-for-4, while Lucas Powers, Zac Johnson and Jeremy Monty added two hits each.
The Mustangs are now 24-18 this season and 20-18 in the MINK League.
St. Joe is back at home Thursday as they host Clarinda at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on 680 KFEQ and here on StJosephPost.com.
