Charles E “Junior” Linville, 89, Skidmore, Missouri, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Golden Living Center, Maryville, Missouri.

Junior was born April 11, 1924, in Skidmore, to Charles Everett Sr. andHazel Naomi (Hart) Linville.

Junior was a graduate of Kemper Military Academy, Boonville, Missouri and was a lifetime resident of the Skidmore area. He owned and operated Skidmore Oil Company for a number of years and helped his wife Frieda in Barrett Tax Service and retired as a Veterans Service Officer with the Missouri Veterans Commission.

He married Frieda Barrett Linville on July 31, 1943, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Frieda preceded him in death on March 17, 1996.

He was a US Army veteran serving in WW II as a 1st Lt. in the 1st Infantry in both Italy and the Philippines.

Junior served on the Skidmore City Council and as city clerk, the board of Nodaway County Group Homes, Services for the Developementally Disabled and the Senior Citizens Tax Board. He was a 50 plus member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge, member of Moila Shrine, Lions Club, Elks Club 40/8, 338th Infantry Association, Order of the Eastern Star, Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, longtime member of the Maryville Bowling Association, and the Skidmore United Methodist Church.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

He is survived by son Charles Frederick Linville of the home, a sister-in-law Vernal Lawnick, Maryville, and several nieces, nephews and cousins

Graveside Services and Burial will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore. Military Honors by James Edward Gray American Legion Post 100.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital For Crippled Children or the Skidmore United Methodist Church.
