A 34-year-old Tarkio, Missouri man, already serving time for a homicide, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Nebraska for a restaurant robbery five years ago.
Johnson County Attorney Julie Smith say Steven Sapp and co-defendant Travis Stewart each received 20-year terms for the robbery of a Pizza Hut in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Officials say the men were wearing masks during the robbery. Two of three female employees present were beaten by the robbers. There were no customers in the restaurant at the time.
Sapp’s sentencing was delayed because of an involuntary manslaughter case in Nodaway County. He pleaded guilty in July, 2009, to voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action for the fatal stabbing of Steven Leach in Pickering, Missouri.
