Larry E. Schiesl, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at his home.
He was born August 9, 1930 to Edwin and Verdi (Stout) Schiesl in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He married Janet Burrowes on December 26, 1964. She survives of the home.
Larry received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He also proudly served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He worked in the Ready Mix Concrete industry for forty years as president and CEO of Feeney Ready Mix and Concrete Services.
He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church, where he volunteered in many different capacities. He was an Eagle Scout, member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and Scout Master of Troop #47 of the Boy Scouts of America.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Schiesl; and two sisters, Mary Louise “Mimer” Minor, and Suzanne Meierhoffer.
Additional Survivors: one daughter, Susanne Hodson (Brad), Pittsburgh, Kansas; four sons, Patrick R. Schiesl, Mission, Kansas, Matthew E. Schiesl (Susan), Kansas City, Missouri, Lt. Col Michael A. Schiesl (Heidi), USA, Bagdad, Iraq, and Tim L. Schiesl, St. Joseph, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Scott, Sarah, Brian, Jonathan Schiesl, Hannah, Abby, Kate, and Daniel Hodson; sister-in-law, Joy Schiesl; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Parish Rosary 6:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 5:00 P.M. Friday.
