No charges will be filed in connection with a stabbing incident reported to St Joseph Police Thursday evening, August 15.
Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney Dwight Scroggins says he reviewed the case submitted by the St Joseph Police Department.
“After all reports and statements were reviewed it was impossible to determine who was the primary aggressor and whether or not the stabbing was done in self defense,” Scroggins said in an announcement Friday afternoon. “All parties to the incident had significant injuries, including the individual identified as having committed the stabbing.
“Police were unable to determine in what order the injuries occurred and the individuals actually involved in the disturbance all were unable to remember what had occurred and who was responsible for the injuries each of them had sustained.”
The incident happened at about 9pm Thursday in the 300 block of Charles Street.
All three persons involved in the fight were described as homeless. All three were taken to Heartland for treatment of injuries.
Two of them suffered stab wounds to the torso, and both went into surgery. The man arrested for the stabbing has facial lacerations. He was treated and released.
