Leonard E. Evans Jr.
1943-2013

Leonard E. Evans Jr., age 69, passed away September 21, 2013 at the Hospice House, North Kansas City Hospital. He was born on November 23, 1943 in St. Joseph, and was the son of Leonard and Marguerite (Howard) Evans.

During his lifetime he served from 1960 to 1964 in the United States Navy, he also worked as a meat cutter for Don Mays Grocery, drove a truck for Gray Manufacturing, and retired from the Saint Joseph Police Department after 30 years of service.

He was a member of the former Third Street Presbyterian Church, the Fraternal Order of Police #3, St. Joseph, Missouri, and American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Bradley Evans; and grandson, Brian Cumberworth.

He is survived by three children, Kimberly, Manteca, California, Dan and his wife Lois, and Ronnie and his wife Billie; one brother, Wayne and his wife Julie; two sisters, Elaine Beth Evans and Rebecca Evans; grandchildren, Courtney, Christopher, Shelby, Lane, Drake, Robert, Melissa and several great-grandchildren.

Leonard was a good and generous person and will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
