Three injured in Friday afternoon crash

Three men from St. Joseph were injured in a Friday afternoon crash. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol Twenty-five year old Kyle Buchanan Merrick of KHP logoSt. Joseph was driving a 2010 Hino trash truck westbound on U36, less than a mile from the state line in Doniphan County.

A 2007 Freightliner semi truck driven by 56-year-old Francis Singleton William of Auburn Hills, Michigan was also westbound on U36 driving on the shoulder at a slow rate of speed.

The semi truck driver made a U-turn in front of the trach truck.

The trash truck swerved, lost control and over turned. Merrick and occupants in the trash truck Christopher Daniel Ray, age 29 of St. Joseph and Robert Lloyd McCoy, age 40 of St. Joseph were transported to Heartland Hospital.

William was not injured.  The trash truck driver and crew were not wearing seat belts.
