(AP) — As the government shutdown enters day two, it continues to cause headaches, including for a group of Missouri and Kansas veterans flying to Washington.

The Heartland Honor Flight organized the trip and that the closed National World War II Memorial was the first stop Wednesday. The group was hopeful it would get inside after a Mississippi veterans group did Tuesday.

Several federally run Missouri attractions also are closed. The Joplin Globe says 13 people are on furlough at the George Washington Carver National Monument near Diamond.

In the northwest part of the state, cameras aren’t snapping pictures of snow geese headed to the marshes at the Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge. Where a sign reads “Closed due to lapse in appropriations.”
