The Missouri Western soccer team struggled in the second half against Central Oklahoma giving up four goals in a 4-0 defeat. The Griffons fall to 2-7-1 overall and 0-3 in MIAA play.
The two teams played the first half to a 0-0 tie. The Griffons took five shots with four being on goal while the Bronchos took nine shots with four on goal.
UCO dominated the second half breaking the scoreless tie in the 47th minute when Kenna Dyess took an assist from Emily Hahn and beat Sarah Lyle over her head. The Bronchos kept up the pressure and at the 64:35 mark Sarah Purcell took an assist from Kate Foran putting a shot in the back of the net giving UCO the 2-0 lead.
The Bronchos scored the third and four goals in the 72nd and 88th minutes respectively. Kimberly Linder scored her first of the season while Purcell scored her second of the game and fourth of the season. The Bronchos improve to 4-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 in MIAA play.
Teddi Serna had two shots for the Griffons while Sarah Lyle made seven saves.
UCO had 25 shots with 16 coming in the second half. They also had 13 shots on goal and 12 corner kicks.
The Griffons return to action on Sunday, October 6 when they travel to Tahlequah, Okla. to take on the Northeastern State RiverHawks. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
