Memorial bridge is finally set to take place.
The Kansas Department of Transportation confirmed
that the first blast will take place on Monday morning, October 7th at 9:00.
KDOT again wants to remind residents that they can watch the blast from the Riverside park area
located off River Road. Due to safety requirements, this is the closest viewing point for the blast.
The general public can access the viewing area by using Atchison Road east to River Road.
Downtown Atchison Streets will be closed starting at 4:00 that morning. Those wishing to view the
blast, should be in place in the viewing area no later than 8:30 that morning.
All streets within the 1,000 foot viewing area, as well as the new Amelia Earhart Memorial bridge
will be closed to all traffic starting at 8:00 that morning. If you normally utilize these routes, please
plan to use an alternate route.
