C. Burl Wells, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri died October, 6, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

He was born November 6, 1931 to James and Beatrice (Mulkey) Wells in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He married Myrtle L. Schoening on May 15, 1954. She survives of the home.

Burl proudly served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War, where he earned three battle stars. He worked in the freezer department at Armour’s for thirty-four years, the Buchanan County Highway Department for fifteen years, and then in 1991 he became a Rural Mail Carrier.

He was a member of King Hill Christian Church, King Hill Lodge #376 A.F. & A.M., King Hill Lodge O.E.S., General Grand Chapter O.E.S., and a lifetime member of American Legion #0359.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two step-brothers, James and Jack Wells; step-mother, Elida Wells; and sister-in-law, Juanita Wells.

Additional Survivors: daughter, Vicki John, Thornton, Colorado; son, Mickey Wells (Sintia), Comfort, Texas; four grandchildren, Shawn and Shanin John, and Shayne and Sebastian Wells; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Manson Wells; step-sister, Mary McCarter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: 3:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
