The Tri County Health Department, Clinton County Health Department, Western Missouri Correctional Center and Crossroads Correctional Center are joining efforts to vaccinate residents for the upcoming flu season.
An influenza vaccination clinic will open to all community residents 18 years of age and older on October 23, 2013 from 6:00 am until 6:00pm. The vaccination clinic will be set up at the Department of Corrections Training area, north of Wal-Mart, on Southeast Pence Road in Cameron. The vaccine will cost $20.00, which will be paid to the local public health departments to assist covering the cost of vaccine and supplies.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends an annual influenza vaccine to protect against the spread of the virus for everyone over the age of six months, except those who have a severe allergy to chicken eggs or who have experienced a reaction to an influenza vaccination in the past.
Families with children under eighteen years of age should contact their local public health department for vaccine availability. You can reach the Tri County Health Department at 660-783-2707 or the Clinton County Health Department at 816-539-2144. For questions regarding this community influenza vaccine clinic contact 660-783-2707.
