Jace Amaro (Texas Tech), Eddie Lackey (Baylor) and Josh Stewart (Oklahoma State) were named Big 12 Football Players of the Week by a panel of media that cover the Conference. Amaro (offense) was recognized for the first time while Lackey (defense) picked up this third award. Stewart (special teams) was honored for the second time this season and third in his career.

Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
Jace Amaro, Texas Tech, TE, Jr, San Antonio, Texas

Junior tight end Jace Amaro played a key role in leading Texas Tech to a 37-27 win on the road at West Virginia. He hauled in nine catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-clinching score with 1:01 remaining in the game.

Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
Eddie Lackey, Baylor, LB, Sr, Murrieta, Calif.

Eddie Lackey led Baylor with eight tackles, including five solo stops in a 71-7 win over Iowa State. He added a sack and 1.5 TFL for 12 yards, along with one fumble recovery. The fumble recovery came on ISU’s second drive of the game and setup Baylor’s second scoring drive from ISU’s 29-yard line. Lackey helped the BU defense hold Iowa State to 174 yards of total offense, its best outing against a conference opponent since 1990.

Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week
Josh Stewart, Oklahoma State, PR/WR, Jr, Denton, Texas

Josh Stewart recorded the longest punt return in Big 12 and Oklahoma State history with a 95-yarder in the Cowboys’ 24-10 win over TCU. It is also the longest punt return for any player in the country this season. He added a 29-yard return later in the contest. The score was Stewart’s second punt-return touchdown in 2013 (he had a 69-yarder against Lamar), tying him with Barry Sanders (1987), Darrent Williams (2003) and Dez Bryant (2008) atop the OSU list for most punt return touchdowns in a season.
