Griffon volleyball gets swept by No. 9 Nebraska-Kearney

riggertMissouriWesternThe Missouri Western volleyball team was overpowered on Tuesday evening falling 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-15) against the 9th ranked Nebraska-Kearney Lopers. The Griffons hit just .027 in the match falling to 11-12 overall and 4-5 in MIAA play.

The Griffons got down early in set one 10-3 but kept calm outscoring the Lopers 18-15 the rest of the way falling 25-21 in set one. In the next two set it was all UNK as the defeated the Griffons 25-10 and 25-15.

Freshman Kelsey Olion led the way with 10 kills while Kelly Scannell had 22 set assists and Sarah Faubel finished with 11 digs.

The Lopers improved to 19-3 overall and 5-2 in MIAA play. MJ Massanet led the way with 15 kills while Erin Seele had 34 set assists. The Lopers also had seven blocks to the Griffons four.

The Griffons return to action on Thursday, October 24 with an MIAA home match against the Pittsburg State Gorillas. Match time is set for 7:00 pm.
