A rear-end collision between two trucks in Andrew County killed one of the drivers, a 54-year-old South Dakota man.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Michael Cohoon’s Freightliner was southbound 11 miles north of St Joseph on I-29 at about 7pm Saturday. It hit a boom truck that had just pulled from the shoulder into the driving lane. Cohooon’s truck jackknifed and came to rest on the shoulder.
The boom truck left the highway and overturned in the median.
Cohoon was transported to Heartland where he was pronounced dead later Saturday night. Two occupants of the other truck, Gary Grable and Wayne Mitchell of St Joseph, suffered minor injuries. This is the third traffic fatality this month and the 21st this year in Troop H.
