The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department will once again unannounced residence checks on registered sex offenders in Buchanan County that need to abide by the Halloween restriction.

Any offender must avoid all Halloween related contact with children and remain inside their residence between the hours of 5:00 PM and 10:30 PM.

Registered Offenders may only leave their residence on Halloween if there is just cause to leave. Examples of just cause would be for work or needed medical treatment. Registered Offenders must post a sign stating, “No candy or treats at this residence” and also leave all outside residential lighting off during the evening hours.

Buchanan County currently has 39 offenders that the Halloween restriction applies to.
