Second Harvest Community Food Bank is teaming up with Apple Market for a special food drive this weekend. They hope to collect food items to be used in Thanksgiving meal boxes for members of the food bank.

All you need to do is go to any Apple Marke location and pick up a list of the most needed items. These special items will be marked throughout the store, and Apple Market will be offering bonus punches on several of the food drive items for their Holiday Cash giveaway.

The food drive is Saturday from noon to 4pm at Apple Market stores in St Joseph.

“We are thankful to Apple Market for partnering with us for this food drive. Second Harvest is preparing for an increase in demand over the holiday season, and with cuts to federal nutrition assistance programs, we anticipate that more families than ever before will be relying on our services. Community efforts such as this drive help to ensure we can meet an increase in demand,” said Tamara Grubb, director of operations at Second Harvest.

Second Harvest will distribute these items along with turkeys on Monday, November 25 from 1 to 6 p.m. Distribution will also take place across the service area through partner agencies. This joint effort will help distribute 3,500 holiday meals.
