The Missouri Department of Transportation is offering several new tools to keep you safe on the road this winter.

Some parts of the country saw their first snowfall this week.

Winter weather can mean changing road conditions. MODOT is offering its Traveler Information Map, located at http://traveler.modot.org/map/. (or click on the image above) For more details, users can activate closed circuit video cameras along some major routes for instant visual information.

For smartphone and tablet users, MoDOT’s updated Traveler Information Map App brings the same information as the Traveler Information Map to your mobile devices. The app also shows message boards across the state, highways that are closed by incidents, and has links to similar maps for surrounding states. Users may choose to show camera images, weather and road conditions. The app is available at the iPhone App Store and the Android Marketplace.

You can also elect to receive email and text alerts suited to your needs. Sign up to receive information about particular counties or routes by subscribing to E-updates at www.modot.org/eMoDOTWeb.
