ASU student found dead in Missouri hometown

(AP) — Arkansas State University says a member of the school’s track and field team has died in his Missouri hometown.

The university says Thomas Ligon died Tuesday morning in Ozark, Mo. Christian County Coroner Brad Cole said Ligon was found unconscious and unresponsive at a friend’s home.

An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.

According to ASU, Ligon was a senior nursing major. He placed ninth in the heptathlon at the Sun Belt Conference championships last year.

The university says Ligon was also involved in Student Government Association and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
