Luis Juan Macias, 88, Maryville, Missouri, died Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Parkdale Manor, Maryville.
Luis was born March 8, 1925, in Matamzas, Cuba to Jose and Guillermina Lavin Macias.
Luis received a law degree from the University of Havana, Cuba and a doctorate in Spanish literature from the University of Madrid, Spain. He was a professor of foreign language at Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville and Conception Abbey, Conception, Missouri.
Luis married his first wife, Ana Vida Banning, May 12, 1957, in Matamazas, Cuba. She preceded him in death February 5, 1989.
He married Ruth H. Hennegin June 7, 1993, in Savannah, Missouri. She survives at the home in Maryville.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Macias; 3 sons: Willie (Cindy) Macias, Pembroke Pines, Florida, Andy Macias, Maryville; John (Laura) Macias, Cape Coral, Florida, and daugher: Alicia (Ron) Davis, Kansas City, Missouri; 2 step-sons: Michael and Brett Carter, Terre Haute, Indiana; step-daughter: Stephanie Carter, Frisco, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Dr. Macias has been cremated. Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
