For the second time in two weeks, a rolling wall of dust moved across the city of Phoenix and its surrounding suburbs yesterday, reducing visibility to just a few hundred feet.
Sky Harbor International Airport ordered a ground stop due to the poor visibility.
There were reports of power lines down in some neighborhoods with the dust being stirred up by winds gusting anywhere from 30 to 50 miles per hour.
Back on July 5th, another “haboob,” measuring a mile high and 100 miles across moved through the Phoenix area.
