A Kansas City, Missouri police office fatally shot a Kansas City firefighter early Sunday morning. Off-duty firefighter Anthony Bruno was fatally shot at about 2:30am Sunday during the hours following his wedding reception.
Authorities say Bruno was married Friday night and his reception was Saturday night.
According to a news release, the officer was seriously injured in a fight that led to the shooting.
Officials say the off-duty officer responded to a disturbance call involving a taxicab at 12th Street and Wyandotte Avenue.
Officer Bruno caught up with the firefighter in the 1300 block of Baltimore Ave.
Officials say the officer was in fear for his life when he fired his duty weapon, striking Bruno. An investigation is
underway.
