Hillyard Students Offer Christmas to Former Student They’ve Never Met

Xmas tree“They don’t know her from Adam,” but they’re giving her and her family an amazing Christmas.

Hillyard Technical Center students in the Medical Transcription program adopted former student Amy Becker this Christmas. Amy Becker has struggled this year with illness and was recently diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. She also has two young special needs children.

When the students heard about Becker’s situation, they asked the family if they could adopt her.

“They don’t know her from Adam,” said Dr. Colleen Becker, Amy Becker’s mother and a counselor at Webster Learning Center.

“They just knew the situation and wanted to make sure she was taken care of.”

The students also sent cards and flowers to Amy Becker while she was hospitalized recently for her illness.

The students asked Dr. Becker to make a wish list of items that Amy and her family could use, and planned to present four large boxes and two laundry baskets full of items to Amy Tuesday morning.
