(AP ) Authorities say a car has struck and killed a man as he attempted to walk across Interstate 44 in southwest Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened Friday night east of Springfield. Forty-six-year-old Ronald D. Remling of Strafford was pronounced dead at the scene.
