Sheriff’s deputies are now on the job as Resource Officers at all five schools in rural Buchanan County. Sheriff Mike Strong says it keeps a promise made during the campaign for a county law enforcement tax.

Strong hired from within the department as officers volunteered for the positions. Hirings began last month and the final School Resource Officer, at Bessie Ellison School, came on board this week.

The new School Resource Officers are Matt Schute, David Giron, Rich Steele, and Josh Rudisell. The original SRO, Deputy Sarah Hardin, remains at Mid Buchanan and helped train the new officers.
