Update 5:30 p.m. – The search for Jane Peterson at Tuttle Cove was unsuccessful, as crews started to get back to the mobile command center at 5:30 p.m. Over 500 acres of land was searched on foot, as well as a much larger area covered by helicopters in day two of the search for Peterson. POI Mat Droge told the Little Apple Post that they did not plan on searching through the night or tomorrow, as the area had been searched twice and there was no evidence of foul play.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department originated the search for the Pottawatomie County woman. Peterson is described as 5 foot seven inches, 140 pounds with red hair. If you know any information about Jane Peterson, please contact the RCPD or Crime Stoppers.

Update: Public Information Officer Mat Droge has told the Little Apple Post that the missing woman, Jane Peterson was put into the NCIC Missing Persons Database around 2:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon. The initial search consisted of 6 officers, 10-15 firefighters and several canine units that searched the area of Tuttle Cove until dark.

The search was not fruitful. Over 200 personnel are currently searching for Peterson, including two Ft. Riley helicopters searching the area at the moment. Officer Droge also explained that the search is very difficult because of the surrounding terrain and the freezing temperatures. Separate teams are split up into groups, and are searching the area in a grid fashion.

A press release will be put out by the RCPD at the conclusion of the search, and Little Apple Post will continue updating on the investigation.

Several Agencies have been working long hours in below freezing temperatures in order to find a woman allegedly missing since Sunday, January 19.

A truck believed to be Jane Peterson, 56, of St. George was found at Tuttle Cove on Monday evening. Public Information Officer Mat Droge reported that Manhattan Fire Department, Kansas Highway Patrol helicopters, and upwards of 70 Fort Riley, US Army Corps of Engineers, and Kansas Search and Rescue are assisting the RCPD.

Little Apple Post will update when more information is available
