Rep. Delus Johnson has confirmed he is a candidate for the Missouri Senate.
He wrote on a new campaign web site, “During my time in the Missouri House of Representatives, I’ve fought for Missouri families by promoting policies that create jobs, cut taxes, and encourage strong agricultural growth.
I want to continue this work and so today, after much consideration, I am proud to announce my candidacy for Missouri’s 12th State Senate district.”
Johnson announced plans to run for the seat after fellow Republican House member Casey Guernsey said he would not.
The northwestern Missouri Senate seat currently is represented by Republican Sen. Brad Lager of Savannah, who cannot seek re-election because of Missouri’s term limits.
Johnson currently represents district 9 in the Missouri House which includes a portion of St. Joseph.
