Corps Updates Repairs After 2011 Floods

The Army Corps of Engineers says more than 100 repair projects have been identified at the Missouri River Mainstem and other associated facilities since the floods of 2011.

Those projects include the repair of spillway gates, outlet works, scour areas, work recreational faclilities, roads and other flood control structures that were damaged.

The estimated cost totals $234 million. The Corps of Engineers issued a quarterly update on the projects Monday.

Seven contracts were awarded in 2012 to repair damages at Gavins Point Dam. They include gate repairs, tailrace erosion protection, relief wells and horizontal outfalls, and repairs to the spillway slab. Most of those projects are complete. The gate repairs are expected to be completed this fall.

Ten contracts were awarded to repair damages along the Missouri River. They include repair of bank stabiliza6tion and navigation structures and other infrastructure. Most are completed. The Corps says the repairs to the navigation reach betweeen Sious City, Iowa and Rulo, Nebraska are scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2015.
