The Cameron Police Department has received several phone calls from concerned citizens in reference to a texting scam.

According to a social media post, several individuals have received text messages stating they need to call a phone number about child support issues or about a fraud alert on their account.

Cameron police say you should not call the number back.

One subject called the number and they began asking for personal information.

Officials say neither banks nor the State of Missouri Child Support Division use text messages to conduct business.
