WARRENSBURG, Mo. (AP) — Warrensburg police are asking the public for information on any woman who was close to delivering a child in February or March, and any suspicious circumstances surrounding the birth.
The requested information is part of an investigation into the death of an infant whose body was found Tuesday in a research cave near the University of Central Missouri campus in Warrensburg.
Authorities said in a news release Thursday the child was white but did not release its sex.
Two college biology students who were studying snakes in the cave found the body inside the cave at Pertle Springs, a public recreation area owned by the university. The decomposing body was left in a pile of trash.
