KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Depositions in a northwest Missouri teen sexual assault case show contradictions in statements from a teenager who said she was raped and her mother.

Daisy Coleman says she was a 14-year-old Maryville High School freshman when 17-year-old Matt Barnett took her to his home, plied her with alcohol and raped her when she blacked out. Her mother found her early the next morning shivering on the family’s front porch.

Barnett was charged with felony sexual assault, but Nodaway County prosecutor Robert Rice dropped the charge because he said there wasn’t enough evidence for a felony conviction. Barnett later pleaded guilty to child endangerment.

In depositions released Friday, Melinda Coleman told Rice her daughter had been less than truthful about some details because she was embarrassed.
