We hope to learn more this week about a suspect who reportedly shot himself after a crash that ended a high-speed chase in Hiawatha, Kansas Friday. The man was wanted on a warrant out of St Joseph and was reportedly driving a vehicle that was stolen here.

A high-speed pursuit ended when the suspect crashed in a ravine. He made his way on foot to the 500 block of south 7th Street, where a standoff began with Brown County deputies, the Buchanan County task force, Sac and Fox police and troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Law enforcement officials say only one shot was fired when the man pulled a gun and shot himself in the head. Investigators from the KHP have still not released the man’s name or condition.
