The Northwest Missouri State baseball team split a double header with Central Missouri on Saturday at Bearcat Field. Northwest won the first game, 4-3, but fell in the second game, 9-0. Northwest is now 20-17 overall and 15-14 in MIAA play. Central Missouri moves to 29-12 on the year and 26-6 in conference action.
Game One
Ryker Fox pitched a complete game for the Bearcats, going all 7.0 innings with three strikeouts. He allowed just one earned run and gave up just five hits.
Northwest took advantage of three Central Missouri errors early, scoring three runs in the second during a two-out rally. Eric McGlauflin singled and scored on a Nikko Pablo single. Brandon Huske singled in Blake Hardegree, who reached on an error, and Pablo stole home during the next at bat.
In the third, Ryan Abernathy walked and scored on an Austin Wulff double to left.
Game Two
Northwest was unable to solve the Mules’ pitching in the night cap, falling 9-0. Abernathy went 2-for-4 on the day. Zack Ferreira, Huske and Wulff all recorded hits for the Bearcats.
Up next, the Bearcats will head to Emporia State for a four-game series with the Hornets starting on Thursday, April 17.
