Graves Recognizes America’s Educators on “National Teacher Day”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Sam Graves (MO-06), House Small Business Committee Chairman, today introduced a resolution in appreciation for the teaching profession and the contributions of America’s educators.

“Teaching is a passion that calls many to go the extra mile for our children’s future. As a father of three children who went through Tarkio schools, I understand that Missourians have been blessed with many who serve our communities in the teaching profession. Our educators have a difficult job, and they should be thanked for their hard work and dedication,” said Congressman Graves.

This resolution was introduced today with the support of 35 bipartisan Members of the House of Representatives.

“We certainly need greater awareness for the teaching profession, the challenges teachers face, and their contributions to educating young people. ‘National Teacher Day’ is an excellent way to promote and honor the teaching profession, but we need continued leadership to keep our education system strong. I thank Congressman Graves for his resolution recognizing our educators,” said Rebecca Harrold, a social studies teacher at Liberty North High School.

Held on May 6, 2014, the purpose of ‘‘National Teacher Day’’ is to promote greater respect and understanding for the teaching profession and its dedicated women and men. The resolution says ‘thank you’ to teachers by encouraging students, parents, school administrators, and public officials to participate in teacher appreciation events during ‘‘National Teacher Day.’’
