Missouri Seeks to Limit Booking Photos Websites

Screen Shot 2014-05-16 at 4.27.57 PMJEFFERSON CITY (AP) – Missouri lawmakers have given final approval to legislation targeting commercial websites that post police booking photos and charge people to have the mugshots removed.

The bill cleared the House and Senate on Friday without opposition and goes now to Gov. Jay Nixon.

The legislation would bar those publishing information about criminal records from soliciting or accepting payment to delete mugshots or other information about arrests such as names, addresses and charges that are filed.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and face up to a year and a fine of $1,000.
