St Joseph police are conducting a homicide investigation, but officials are keeping details of the investigation away from the public.
Last week, four people were detained on investigative murder charges, but all four were released pending further investigation. St Joseph Police Commander Janice Rothganger would not say why the four people were arrested, or why they were released.
Rothganger would also not comment on whether the arrests had anything to do with the body found last week in a wooded area of Wyeth Hill. She says they have not yet identified that body, adding she couldn’t say whether the body was that of a man or a woman.
Police last week issued a missing-person alert for William Howard Paige, Jr, 57 of St Joseph. Rothganger would not comment on the status of that investigation, except to say that the investigation continues.
Two St Joseph men were arrested on Thursday for investigation of 2nd Degree Murder. A St Joe man and a Stewartsville man were arrested on investigative charges on Friday, one for 1st Degree Murder and the other for 2nd Degree Murder.
