PERRY, Kan. – A Kansas man died in a Monday afternoon crash in Jefferson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Scion van driven by Ronald C. Heugel, 71, Lenexa was traveling westbound on U.S. 24 three miles east of K-237.

The vehicle left the highway and entered the north shoulder.

The driver overcorrected, re-entered the highway and the vehicle slid across the highway into southbound ditch and began to roll, coming to rest on a high-tension wire facing northwest.

Heugel was pronounced dead at the scene.
The KHP reported he was wearing a seat belt.
