The Bishop LeBlond baseball team had its season come to an end Wednesday night as they fell in the Class 3 Quarterfinals to Fatima, 7-1.
The Eagles end their season 16-8 and it was their first appearance in the quarters since 1977.
Fatima, the defending state champions, used home runs in the second and third innings to build a 6-0 lead and LeBlond couldn’t overcome the early deficit.
The Eagles left six men on base in the first three innings and scored their only run on a bases loaded walk to Jack Schanze. Bishop LeBlond managed only three hits off Fatima starter Logan Vogel, who threw a complete game to get the win.
Fatima moves on to play Springfield Catholic in the Class 3 semifinals Tuesday in O’Fallon. New Madrid County Central plays Christian in the other semifinal.
