SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Virginia (Marshall) White-Davis, 89, died Monday, May 26, 2014 at a healthcare facility in Springfield.
She was born May 12, 1925 to Theodore and Ethel (Nauman) Marshall in St. Joseph.
Virginia married Jack Lewis White on January 6, 1946. He preceded her in death in November 2001. She then married Melvin G. Davis. He preceded her in death in 2013.
Virginia was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Moila Needles, St. Joseph Historical Society and the Albrecht – Kemper Museum of Art. She volunteered for United Way and liked to collect antiques, travel and play bridge.
As a mother she refused to listen to physicians and educators regarding her youngest son’s disabilities. With the full support of her husband, Jack, she saw that Jeff received a complete education, graduated from high school and lived a good life with the love and support of family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, David Jeffrey White; sisters, June Nauman Oppenheim and Thedora Marshall; and brothers, David and John Marshall.
Survivors: son, John Marshall White (Melanie), St. Joseph; his daughter, April Bransfield (Scott) and their children Somer and Susan, St. Joseph; daughter, Robin Rinker (Rudy), Springfield; her children, Ryann Rinker and her son, Lucas Shaffer, Prairie Village, Kan.; Rebecca Ward (Dan) and their children Ryan and Madelyn, Nixa, Mo.; and Reghann Kosar (Justin) and their children Jackson and Emma Rinker, Springfield.
Celebration of Life: 3 p.m., Sunday, First Presbyterian Church. Inurnment Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers for those wishing to make a contribution, the family requests they be made to the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art, First Presbyterian Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
