LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — The Douglas County sheriff’s department says a 25-year-old man has been arrested in the shooting of a motorist on Highway 59 south of Lawrence.
Sheriff’s department spokesman Lt. Steve Lewis says in a news release that the suspect from Lawrence was arrested Monday night and booked into the county jail on an attempted second-degree murder charge.
Twenty-four-year-old Skylar Workman was injured in the May 26 shooting and is recuperating at a Topeka hospital.
Investigators have said they do not think the shooting was a random act of violence.
