Hearing Scheduled For Deputy Accused Of Stealing Evidence

Brett O'DellA court hearing was scheduled Thursday for a deputy accused of stealing evidence from the Caldwell evidence vault.

Deputy Brett O’Dell was charged in April with Theft or Stealing with a value of more than $500 and less than $25,000, a Class-C felony.

In court documents, investigators accused O’Dell of stealing at least $5,000 cash and some prescription pills.

He was serving as evidence office for the Sheriff’s Office at the time. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Caldwell County Sheriff Jerry Galloway initiated the investigation.

O’Dell posted $25,000 bond as he awaits disposition of the case.
