Blood Supplies Critically Low, Donors Needed Immediately

blood donationCommunity Blood Center is asking all eligible blood donors to make a life-saving blood donation NOW to help replenish our community blood supply – which has reached a critically low level. The need is especially urgent for type O negative blood, the only blood type that can be safely transfused to all patients.

Hospital patients don’t have the luxury of taking summer vacations like the rest of us,” said Patsy Shipley Vice President, Donor and Hospital Services. “We have to ask our communities to roll up their sleeves to make sure we can provide lifesaving blood to every hospital patient who needs it.”

Eligible donors must be at least 16 years of age, weigh a minimum of 115 pounds and be in good health.

The Community Blood Center in Saint Joseph is located at 3122 Frederick St., St. Joseph
