Buchanan County is on track to take over the Heartland ambulance service July 1, as scheduled. Presiding Commissioner RT Turner says the transition should pass unnoticed, except for one thing: the name on the ambulances will be Buchanan County EMS rather than Heartland EMS.
The official name of the service is REMSA, which stands for Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority, but it will do business as Buchanan County EMS. Turner says it’s a more familiar name than REMSA.
Turner’s goal has been to make this a seamless transition. He thinks it will be, though he says there may be a hiccup or two.
