The St. Joseph Mustangs had their two game winning streak snapped Sunday as they lost at Nevada 4-3.
St. Joe’s summer college baseball team drops to 21-9 and 13-8 in the MINK League, but they are now 0-3 against the Griffons.
The Mustangs fell behind 1-0 in the second inning before they scored an unearned run in the fourth to tie the game and then Joe Koerper drove in two runs with double to give St. Joseph the lead.
The Griffons tied the game with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, and then they broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the eighth inning off of Mustangs’ starter Ryker Fox.
Fox (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season as he allowed four runs on eight hits over 7.2 innings.
Koerper was the only Mustang with multiple hits as he finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored. Brandon Husker and Ryan Abernathy each scored a run for the St. Joe.
The Mustangs will be on the road again Monday as the play at Clarinda. The first pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN 1550 AM & here on StJosephPost.com.
