Robert D. Plants
1936 – 2019
Robert D. Plants, 82, of Gainesville, GA passed away January 4, 2019 at the NEGA hospital in Gainesville, GA.
Bob was born July 6, 1936 at Hoyt, Kansas. He served four years in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic.
He married Mildred L. Stolle and they had two children: Larry Robert and Linda Kay.
Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, GA.
He was preceded in death by his son, Larry R. Plants, his brother, Clarence A. Plants and his sister, Edith M. Reed.
Bob is survived by his wife Millie Plants; a daughter, Linda K Plants; and a grandson Peter J. Plants; all of Gainesville GA; a brother, Jacob Plants and his wife Edith, of Lecompton KS; a brother-in-law, Richard Reed, of Topeka, KS as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. Visitation will follow the service at the Hoyt Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Glen Milton Thorne
1927 – 2019
Glen Milton Thorne, 91, of Lancaster, KS died Monday, January 28th, 2019 at his farm home that he was born and raised in.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev Jim Cormode officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 pm on Saturday, at the funeral home. Glen was born on Oct. 13, 1927 in Farmington, KS the son of Henry G. and Eliza (Bailey) Thorne. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1945. He worked as a farmer and raised livestock all his life and was partial to Allis-Chalmers tractors. He was a member of the Farmington Christian Church, where he served as Secretary/Treasurer and a Deacon for many years. Glen also served as Secretary/Treasurer for the Pardee Cemetery Board. He was a member of the Jackson-Farmers CO-OP. Glen enjoyed playing baseball with his brothers, watching the KC Royals Baseball and sports on the television.
He was married to Patricia Morrow on Oct. 16, 1960. Mrs. Thorne survives of the home. Additional survivors include three daughters, Linda (Steve) Koch, Topeka, KS, Cheryl (Henry) Jones, Atchison, KS and Diane (Don) Hanzel, Kansas City, MO, nine grandchildren; Stephanie and Austin Koch, Julie and Elizabeth Jones, Dustin, Brooke, Tyler, Haley and Derek Richardson, and four great grandchildren. His parents, six brothers, and four sisters preceded him in death.
Lanny Joe Phillips
1954 – 2019
Lanny Joe Phillips, 64, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Mosaic Life Care with his loving family by his side.
Lanny was born on November 5, 1954 in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late Byrl and Gertrude (Palmer) Phillips. He was a 1973 graduate of Lafayette High School.
Mr. Phillips was employed as a corrections officer for Western Reception Diagnostic Correctional Center and was previously employed by Mead Products for over twenty-seven years.
Lanny was baptized of the Baptist faith. He was a lifetime avid Raiders fan and enjoyed fishing, The Beatles, Muhammad Ali, The Andy Griffith Show, but above all playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his beloved family.
Lanny married Sandy Elrod on September 26, 1980. She survives him of the home.
Additional survivors include his children; Dan Clary, Sedalia, MO, Kristen Burks (Matthew), Macon, MO; Valerie Vann (Chad), St. Joseph, MO and Daniela Clary; grandchildren, Steven Kalebic, Niklas Clary, Sofia, Joseph and Stella Burks, Breanna Chandler (Clayton), Brandon Vann, Christian Phillips (Stephaine) and Veronica Vann; great-grandchildren, Drake and Emmy Chandler, Ayden and Ava Vann and special buddy, Lucy Baier; two sisters, Judy Arnold and Sarah Moser (John) and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lanny was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor and Gene Phillips; brother-in-law, Jim Arnold; sister-in-law, Pat Phillips and nephew, Greg Arnold and his beloved dog, Lucky.
Services 1:00 PM Tuesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 12:00 PM Monday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Noyes Home for Children.
Forest G. Parker
1940 – 2019
Forest G. Parker, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2018.
He was born June 24, 1940 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Forest married Linda Colley August 20, 1966. She survives of the home.
He worked for the City of St. Joseph for over 35 years, with the last 15 years as a Superintendent of the Water Protection Plant.
Forest enjoyed fishing, target shooting, collecting antique guns and reading historical books.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest Parker and Viola Marguis; brother, Herbert Parker; and sister, Barbara Jean Parker.
Additional survivors include son, Jeffrey Parker (Patty); daughter, Leigh Ann Hardie (Troy); grandchildren, Jacob Hardie, J.J. Parker, Jamie Lynn Owens and James Lanham; niece, Laura Donaldson; numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mabel E. Montgomery
1947 – 2019
Mabel E. Montgomery, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at her home.
She was born December 20, 1947 in Pattonsburg, MO.
Mabel married Robert L. Montgomery on September 14, 1974, he preceded her in death on November 15, 2015.
She was a 1965 graduate from Pattonsburg High School.
Mabel loved God, her children, family and friends and lived life on her terms. She loved traveling and spending the past 3 years fulfilling her bucket list with her children and grandchildren. Each grandchild was her favorite.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Ora and Ruth (Moss) Hancock; sons, Shannon Steele, Robert V. Montgomery; 3 sisters and 7 brothers.
Survivors include daughters, Jennifer Puckett (Scott), Stacey Steele, Shelly Montgomery-Butts (Kevin); 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Huff, Mary Frazier, Margaret Sanders; brother, Herschel Hancock, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Brett Duke
1974 – 2019
Brett Duke, 44, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019.
He was born June 17, 1974 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Brett married Cher Leffler October 25, 2011. She and granddaughter Kieara survive of the home.
He was a member of Hope Fellowship Church. Brett worked at Wire Rope Corporation for 17 years, then later at Silgan Containers.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, food, was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved spending time with his family. Brett loved and cherished his wife, Cher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Linda (Bledsoe) Duke; grandparents, Bill and Betty Watson; cousin, Tammy Schelhorn.
Additional survivors include children, Kary Collins, Bethany Bennington (Logan Campbell), Gordon Bennington (Shelby Harris); grandchildren, Japail, Keyosha, Raine and Nora Lee; brothers, John Charles Duke (Sherrie), Mike Evans (Melinda); sisters, Jennifer Gibson, Gina Muleroni (John); step-mother, Janet Duke; sisters-in-law, Tarria Hines, Angela Gardner; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Michael V. Crawford
1947 – 2019
Michael V. Crawford, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019.
He was born June 10, 1947 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
He was a baptized at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Sunnyvale, California.
Michael was a Sgt. with the U.S. Marines having served two tours in Vietnam. He worked with United Airlines for over 40 years until retirement in 2013. Michael later moved to St. Joseph, Missouri in 2015 to be with and care for his mother.
He enjoyed fishing, was an avid sports fan, including football, baseball and basketball. Michael also enjoyed attending church and related activities.
He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Vern Crawford; grandparents, Opha and Hazel Crawford, and Ernest Bundy; great-grandparents, John and Mary Ripley.
Survivors include mother, Dorothy Crawford; sister, Carole Rezetko (Ronald); numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
